From Creative Space to Creative Waste

Specialist Aberdeen Accountancy business, Freelance World, has donated their old office furniture to local charity, Aberdeen Forward, so that it can be reused by community groups in the area.

The furniture has come from Freelance World’s new co-working area, Creative Space, on the ground floor of their Riverside Drive offices. Creative Space is an informal work space which can be used by freelancers and business people who normally work from home, or on their own. With wi-fi, printing facilities and coffee, it gives users a change of scenery and the option of collaborating with other users, or just having a chat while they work.

Alasdair McGill, Managing Director of Freelance World said “Because the Creative Space is a place for ideas and innovative thinking, we wanted to make it look and feel inspiring. By replacing the everyday office furniture with some funkier chairs and desks we think we have made a workplace that visitors will look forward to using because it makes them more productive, and because it is fun.”

Gillian Marr, Volunteer and Operations Manager at Aberdeen Forward commented, “Aberdeen Forward’s Creative Waste Exchange accepts furniture, stationery and arts and crafts resources from local businesses and sells them as a good quality, low cost resource to community groups, schools and youth organisations. We were delighted to be offered Freelance World’s furniture and would encourage other businesses to remember us when they are replacing their equipment.”

McGill added, “It’s great that our furniture will be reused by people who really need it. As a company, we support creativity, and the Creative Waste Exchange is a fantastic scheme.”
