Beer, burgers and balloons

A noisy and diverse crowd gathered at Creative Space on Friday night to celebrate the opening of Aberdeen’s first co-working space. Creative Space is a dedicated area on the ground floor of Freelance World’s Riverside Drive office, where self-employed people can work on a regular or occasional basis. To mark its official opening, Freelance World held a launch party, celebrating local creativity and showing off the newly refurbished co-working space. Local business people mixed with students and artists at the informal gathering, enjoying locally made Brewdog beer and Itsy burgers and snacks, surrounded by balloons and serenaded by live music…

Personal brand: the key to finding your next contract

It’s a fact of life for any freelancer, contractor or self-employed business owner out there: whatever you do, ultimately you’re a sales person.  Because if you don’t go out and find that next job or your newest client, you won’t last long.

But most of us didn’t go into our line of work to do sales (I know I certainly didn’t!) which is why we find it hard to get our act in gear when it comes to building our list of contacts, keeping in touch with them and getting work from them.

But what if I you had something to help you do those things without really having to try?

Well, guess what?  You already do.  It’s called your personal brand and the reason it’s so important boils down to one thing:  before buy people before they buy what they’re selling.

North East Scotland’s First Jelly sets at Freelance World

The first Jelly in the North East took place at Freelance World’s Riverside Drive office in Aberdeen on Wednesday 6 April.
